How to get here By Car
When travelling to Jindabyne, any route is picturesque and it takes approximately:-
2 hours from Canberra
5 - 6 hours from Sydney
7 hours from Melbourne.
Driving from Sydney
Follow the Hume Highway from Sydney, just south of Goulbourn take the Federal Highway and travel south to Canberra.
At Canberra, follow the ‘Monaro Highway, Cooma’ signs. Continue for approximately 2 hours through Bredbo to Cooma. Drive through Cooma.
The road becomes Kosciusko Road which you follow through Berridale to Jindabyne. Follow the road into town passing the old town centre shops and Snowy Region Visitor Centre on your left. Take the next left hand turn into Nuggets Crossing Shopping Centre. Kosciusko First National Real Estate and Jindabyne Accommodation Centre are directly in front of you.
Driving from Melbourne
Follow the Hume Highway from Melbourne to Wodonga. Take the Murray Valley Highway ‘To Wodonga/Tallangatta’ exit and follow the signs ‘To Tallangatta’.
After passing Wodonga, follow signs to Tallangatta again on the Murray Valley Highway. You will pass through Koetong and Corryong. Take the ‘Khancoban’ turn off on your right. Once in Khancoban, you are only 109kms from Jindabyne. The road becomes quite windy and steep in places.
Continue past Thredbo down the Alpine Way until you reach a T junction. Turn right onto Kosciusko Road and follow for about 5 minutes and you will be in Jindabyne.
Drive through the first roundabout and ensure you are in the right hand lane for the second one. Once past the roundabout, take the right hand filter lane into Nuggets Crossing Shopping Centre. Kosciusko First National Real Estate and Jindabyne Accommodation Centre are directly in front of you.

Airport shuttle service
Snowy Mountains Airport Link (SMAL) is the official Airport Shuttle for Snowy Mountains Airport. This airport shuttle services the Snowy Mountains Airport, Berridale, Jindabyne, Skitube and Thredbo.
The Snowy Mountains Airport link will also be providing shuttles between Jindabyne – Skitube – Thredbo for those wanting transport up and down the mountain for skiing and are also about to commence transfers from Canberra Airport to Jindabyne, Skitube and Thredbo. Please note that the roads are clear for most of the year.
However, between the June long weekend and the October long weekend, the snow season is upon us. Two wheel drive vehicles are required by law to carry chains within the Kosciuszko National Park during this time. Chains can be hired in Jindabyne, Thredbo and Khancoban.

Both Qantas and Virgin fly to Canberra Airport from all major cities on a regular basis. From here, you can hire a car or arrange for a coach transfer to travel on to Jindabyne and the Snowy Mountains.
During winter, you can book transfers to Jindabyne, Perisher and Thredbo through Greyhound, Murrays, Transborder, Snowlink, Snoexpress or Country Link. Snowlink also offer daily transfers between Jindabyne and Thredbo or Perisher. Numbers are limited so reservations are essential. During summer, there are no regular coach services between Cooma, Jindabyne, Thredbo or Perisher.
Getting to Perisher and Thredbo
After leaving Jindabyne, you need to turn left on to the Alpine Way after about 3 kilometres if you are driving to Thredbo or Ski Tube. If you are driving to Perisher, continue straight on Kosciuszko Road to Smiggins and Perisher. Both resorts are located within Kosciusko National Park. To enter the park, you are required to pay an entry fee –
$17 per vehicle per day in summer; Motorcycles $7 per day
$29 per vehicle per day in winter; Motorcycles $12 per day
$190 per year – this pass allows entry into all National Parks in NSW.
